The fragrant smell of marijuana comes from natural plant terpenes

Plant terpenes are aromatic compounds that are found inside of each and every plant.

Terpenes are responsible for the way that many plants taste and smell.

Terpenes are responsible for many of the fragrances that we love like lemons, oranges, lavender, pine, and roses. Terpenes such as myrcene, linalool, and pinene are found in a number of different cannabis and marijuana strains. These plant terpenes can have some added health benefits when ingested into the body. Some terpenes can act as an antioxidant. Some terpenes can also act as an antifungal or antimicrobial. When I started growing different types of marijuana strains, it was very easy to figure out which type of plant terpenes were present in each and every strain. Strains such as Super Lemon Haze and Lemon Souffle have limonene, and strains like OG kush and Grandaddy purp contain pinene and myrcene. When the plants are starting to get their flowers and buds, you can really smell the difference between each and everyone. One of the things that I love most about being a cannabis farmer is all of the different types of cannabis that can be farmed. There are thousands of different types of cannabis strains and each one of them has a unique smell and taste. Farmers are always busy creating new hybrids that showcase the best traits of different sativas, hybrids, and indicas. Last year, one of my farming buddies grew a crop of Kush Cake that won first place in the new farmer’s division. The guy was featured in high times magazine and he did an interview with rolling stone too.
