Was marijuana legal back then?

No, marijuana was not legal.

When I turned eighteen, I was talking to my Dad about the legalizing of medical marijuana. I asked her if she would use it if something happened to her health. She told me that if she a complication with her health that medical marijuana could help, she would get a medical marijuana ID card. It surprised me when I heard this. I thought that mom, being as strict as she was with me and sibling, and constantly preaching about the dangers of drugs, would be against medical marijuana. She said she would not be quick to purchase recreational marijuana if it was legalized, although she had nothing against medical marijuana and thought it was a breakthrough for the medical field. I asked her if they had ever had legal marijuana back when she was younger. She changed the subject and said she had things to do doing, but I wasn’t ready to shut up yet. She told me that when she was younger; she was a stupid teenager just care about all teenagers going through that stage. She was a bit more wild than I was, and yeah, she had tried marijuana. No, marijuana was not legal. I didn’t assume if I wanted to be in shock or laugh at her omission. It was nice having a heart-to-heart about medical and recreational marijuana when I was only sixteen. Now that I’m older, Dad and I have had many conversations about medical marijuana now that it has been legalized. She told me she had talked to her doctor about using medical marijuana for her RA and asked me to go with her to the doctor who would help her get her ID card.
