Having to compete with other dispensaries

I am always looking for new ways to make the shopping experience fun for my customers.

Before legalization of recreational pot smoking was passed, the store was very much like a pharmacy.

Our only customers needed cannabis products for their recovery, or to arrest the symptoms of their illnesses. Now everything has changed, and although we still help out the folks who need medical cannabis, most of our sales come from recreational customers. Before I didn’t need to have sales or special discounts, because it was strictly medical cannabis, but now I have to compete with the other dispensaries! My first thought was to have a smokers lounge, but the state laws prohibit smoking cannabis indoors. It wouldn’t make much sense to have a smokers lounge if the people can’t smoke cannabis there, would it? Instead I decided to have a huge weekend long sale, and the cannabis dispensary parking lot would be filled with food trucks and a small stage for live music. We still can’t allow cannabis smoking, because of the laws, but I feel this is a great way to attract attention to our little store. It’s the middle of summer, and so almost everyone will come inside the cannabis dispensary, if only for the air conditioning! This event isn’t just about generating some extra sales (which would be nice) it’s about raising the visibility of my cannabis dispensary. This is part of a long campaign to boost cannabis sales, so I have to be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day, after all, and neither is a cannabis business.
