I asked the preacher about cannabis

Around here smoking pot is still considered taboo. The legalization process is moving as slow as molasses thanks to all the old-guard politicians who control the government and law enforcement. It is inevitable that cannabis will be fully legalized before long, but they are slowing it down as much as possible. Which made it all the more shocking to me that when I went to see live music at the town square, one of the musicians was smoking a big fat joint on stage! I asked around, just to find out who the guy was, and learned that he was a Rasta, and that smoking cannabis is part of his religion. This blew me away, because I never knew any religions that made cannabis a part of their worship. That’s the kind of church I might be interested in! I remember when I was a teenager my parents used to make me go to their church, and I asked the preacher candidly about cannabis use. My question was simple – if God made everything, that means he also made cannabis. Why would God make cannabis for humans to have, if the church said that it was wrong. I flat out asked if they thought God was wrong for creating cannabis. The preacher did not have an answer for me, but he did immediately contact my parents and tell them to give me a drug screening for cannabis use. Is it any wonder why I never went back to church? If a church had an open and accepting attitude about cannabis, it might be a different story.
