I had to lighten up on drinking after I barely squeaked by in undergraduate university.
It was a miracle that I was accepted into my dream grad university program and took it as a single chance at a new start.
I wouldn’t get all of the chances I got while I was in my first many years of university with my new PhD program so I finally decided that alcohol was the first thing that needed to go in my new life. Too much of my daily laziness was perpetuated by indulging in too much liquor consumption. My entire undergraduate experience was different compared to my friends that attended huge state universities in the area. By contrast, I went to a tiny liberal arts university that had fewer students than my old school. Needless to say, there was a serious clique environment and you had to find a solid group of friends if you didn’t want to slip between the cracks within the university’s world. A lot of my university friends fell into alcoholism fairly early on. The group of people I was with and I all drank on the weekends at first, and then it became a weekday evening affair to throw back a few drinks either while I was in or after doing class work, to boot. Nowadays I have replaced my alcohol cravings with expensive cannabis drink cravings. I buy cannabis drinks to replace wine, and thus far it’s panning out fairly well. It’s a lot easier to get work done with some THC in your method compared to the volume of alcohol. At least that’s what my limited experience has yielded. I honestly just wish that these cannabis drinks were cheaper, but I expect their price to drop rapidly along with other cannabis products once they lose their novelty status.
