Impressed with flower from dispensary

When recreational cannabis was first legalized in my home state, I couldn’t wait to shop at the dispensary.

  • It seemed to take forever for the regulations to allow for several weed shops in the local area to open their doors.

I stepped inside with no clue of what I might find or even what I actually wanted. My only experience was with dried flower that I’d purchased in sandwich bags from friends. I’d never had options such as sativa, indica or hybrid. I had no idea of the THC to CBD ratio or the types of terpenes. I didn’t realize that these features made such a difference to the potency, effects and flavor. The dispensary offered over two dozen strains of smokable flower in gorgeous colors. I immediately noticed the flecks of blue and purple, hair-like pistils in fiery orange and crystal-like trichomes coating the surface. The pungent aroma of the weed was powerful and surprising. After speaking with one of the budtenders, I selected a hybrid with a citrusy limonene terpene and an equal THC to CBD percentage. I roll my own joints and was super impressed by the mature, dense buds. They weren’t dry and crumbly or overly sticky but offered the perfect texture. I was able to create a perfect joint for an especially consistent and smooth burn. I didn’t need to keep lighting it over and over, and it didn’t burn up too quickly. The flavor was just awesome. Since then, I’ve been experimenting with a variety of producers and strains. I’ve tried indoor grown and sun grown options and gotten a little less cautious about THC potency. For the sake of convenience, I’ve purchased a few pre-rolled joints and blunts.
